Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA) – Indonesia's search and rescue team on Tuesday recovered another body from the crash site of an ATR 42-500 aircraft on Mount Bulusaraung, South Sulawesi.Makassar Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) head and mission coordinator Muhammad Anwar Arif said the body, believed to be female, was retrieved from a ravine about 350 meters deep in extremely difficult terrain. He said the evacuation was carried out by nine Search and Rescue Units (SRUs), including land-based and vertical rescue teams, operating under challenging conditions.”The evacuation was conducted gradually and with extreme caution due to steep valleys, sheer cliffs, and limited visibility caused by rain and fog,” Arif said.He added that rescuers worked from the valley up to the summit using specialized equipment. The body is being transported to the Tompobulu Command Post before being handed over to the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team.According to Arif, the SAR operation involved 1,075 personnel from Basarnas, the military, police, volunteers, and medical teams. The operation was supported by land and air assets, including helicopters, surveillance aircraft, and thermal drones, to accelerate the search for remaining victims. The SAR mission remains ongoing and will continue to be adjusted based on field conditions and weather developments.Earlier, one body was evacuated and taken to the South Sulawesi Police DVI Unit in Makassar for identification. So far, two bodies — one male and one female — have been recovered from the crash site. Their identities have not yet been confirmed. The ATR 42-500 aircraft operated by Indonesia Air Transport (IAT) was reported missing while attempting to land at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport on Saturday. The aircraft was flying from Yogyakarta with 10 people on board: seven crew members and three passengers from the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries — Ferry Irawan, Deden Mulyana, and Yoga Naufal. The crew consisted of pilot Captain Andi Dahananto, co-pilot Muhammad Farhan Gunawan, and flight attendants Hariadi, Restu Adi, Dwi Murdiono, Florencia Lolita, and Esther Aprilita.Rescue teams have found several pieces of aircraft debris and recovered two bodies, though authorities have yet to confirm their identities.
