Indonesia seeks investment from Nvidia, AWS to enhance digital economy

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia is courting investment from global technology firms including Nvidia and Amazon Web Services to accelerate growth in its digital economy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto said on Saturday.Airlangga held talks with several corporate leaders on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos, Switzerland, as Jakarta seeks to attract strategic investors.“Some of the companies that have shown interest include Nvidia, Amazon Web Services, DocuSign, CrowdStrike and Cloudflare,” Airlangga said in a statement issued in Jakarta.He said the WEF meetings followed up on tariff negotiations between Indonesia and the United States and were aimed at deepening commercial ties with U.S. digital companies.The discussions were held at the Indonesia Pavilion and focused on potential strategic investment in the country’s digital sector.Indonesia was represented by Nongsa Digital Park, which manages the Nongsa Special Economic Zone in Batam and is projected to become one of the country’s digital economy hubs.“The meetings discussed digital economy trends and investment potential in Indonesia, particularly in data centers, cybersecurity and digital infrastructure,” Airlangga said.On the same day, Airlangga also met Jordan’s Minister of Investment, Tareq Abu Ghazaleh.The meeting, attended by Investment and Downstreaming Minister Rosan Roeslani and Danantara Chief Investment Officer Pandu Sjahrir, reviewed follow-up steps to a memorandum of understanding between Danantara and the Jordan Investment Fund.The MoU covers potential strategic investment opportunities in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the statement said.The WEF has become a key forum for Indonesia to outline its economic policy direction amid global volatility.At the forum, President Prabowo Subianto underscored the importance of peace and stability as the foundation of economic development.“Peace and stability are the most valuable assets we have. They are not luxuries, but essential prerequisites for economic growth and shared prosperity,” Prabowo said.
