Joint teams contain 23 hectares of wildfires in Aceh Barat District

Meulaboh (ANTARA) – The Aceh Barat District Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has successfully extinguished 23.4 hectares of wildfires out of a total of 50.2 hectares burned across several locations.”Currently, 26.8 hectares of burned land remain. Extinguishing efforts by the joint team are ongoing,” said Acting Head of the Aceh Barat BPBD, Teuku Ronald, to reporters in Meulaboh on Thursday.The increase in burned land was attributed to the spread of hotspots, which intensified the fires locally.Furthermore, strong winds at each location caused the flames to spread rapidly, further expanding the affected area.Ronald explained that extinguished areas include seven hectares in Suak Raya Village, five hectares in Lapang (Ujong Beurasok) Village, and four hectares in Suak Nie Village.Meanwhile, in Meureuboh Sub-district, crews cleared one hectare in Alue Peunyareng Village and 0.5 hectares in Ujong Tanoh Darat Village.In Woyla Sub-district, 0.5 hectares were extinguished in Aron Baroh Village, 3.9 hectares in Blang Luah Village, and 1.5 hectares in Meunasah Rambot Village within the Kaway XVI District.Current firefighting efforts are concentrated in Johan Pahlawan District, where approximately 3.5 hectares remain active in Suak Raya Village, six hectares in Suak Nie Village, and 4.5 hectares in Lapang Village.Additionally, teams are focused on Ranto Panyang Timur Village (2 hectares) in Meureuboh Sub-district and Meunasah Rambot Village (6.5 hectares) in Kaway XVI District.Efforts also continue in Peulanteu Village, Bubon District, where the fire has reached 4.2 hectares.
