Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesia Boxing Federation (Perbati) has confirmed that Indonesia has been appointed to host this year’s Asian Boxing U19 & U23 Men’s and Women’s Championships, scheduled to take place in Jakarta in July 2026.“Perbati is fully committed to organizing the championships professionally and transparently in accordance with Asian Boxing and World Boxing standards,” Perbati Chairperson Ray Zulham stated at a press conference on Tuesday.Zulham said Indonesia’s appointment as host by Asian Boxing went through a strict selection and evaluation process, adding that the decision reflects Asian Boxing’s trust in Indonesia’s capability to host the championship. He further described the appointment as an important momentum for the revival of Indonesia’s amateur boxing scene.“This is not merely about becoming the host, but also a momentum to build a strong and sustainable boxing ecosystem in Indonesia,” the Perbati chief stressed. He explained that the championship will be attended by boxing athletes from 36 Asian Boxing member states, with an estimated 400 male and female athletes, along with hundreds of delegates and officials. The championship, he noted, will serve as an important platform for young boxers to gain experience at the international level and sharpen their skills over the long term.As the host, Zulham said Perbati has prepared supporting facilities, including competition and training venues that meet international standards, accommodation, transportation, medical and anti-doping services, as well as broadcasting and promotional support.Indonesia’s Ministry of Youth and Sports has also expressed full support for the international championship, reflecting the government’s commitment to athlete development and Indonesia’s presence on the global sporting stage.Zulham expressed hope that Indonesia would not only successfully host the event, but also leave a strong impression and deliver a positive impact on the development of boxing at both the national and Asian levels. The championship also provides an opportunity to promote Indonesia as a competitive and attractive sports tourism destination, he added.
