Indonesia’s SKK Migas to drill 100 exploration wells in 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s upstream oil and gas special task force, SKK Migas, has unveiled plans to drill 100 exploration wells and 100 multi-stage fracturing wells in 2026 under its ambitious “Triple 100” program. “We have set an ambitious target for 2026: 100 exploration wells and 100 multi-stage fracturing wells,” SKK Migas Head Djoko Siswanto announced in Jakarta on Wednesday. To support the initiative, SKK Migas signed a memorandum of understanding with Schlumberger Geophysics Nusantara, establishing a framework for strategic collaboration. The partnership will provide units for multi-stage fracturing operations and accelerate production through technology deployment, knowledge exchange, and adoption of global best practices across Indonesia’s production-sharing contract (PSC) areas. As of February, SKK Migas has added 13 exploration wells and six multi-stage fracturing wells from approved work programs and budgets.Djoko noted that the regulator must still secure 48 exploration wells and 77 fracturing wells by December to meet the annual target. The collaboration with Schlumberger is designed to strengthen upstream integration—from subsurface analysis and well design to production—enhancing reservoir productivity and operational efficiency. Djoko emphasized that the initiative is part of broader efforts to boost national oil and gas output through targeted technological solutions. SKK Migas expects the program to create added value for operators and contribute to Indonesia’s long-term energy security goals.
