Indonesia’s Prabowo attends first Board of Peace Summit in Washington

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto arrived at the US Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C., on Thursday morning local time to attend the inaugural Board of Peace (BoP) Summit.His motorcade reached the venue at around 8 a.m., after several surrounding roads had been cleared an hour earlier.Prabowo is attending the high-level meeting at the invitation of US President Donald Trump, who initiated the BoP and is scheduled to officially open the summit.The Indonesian leader is set to deliver remarks alongside representatives of other member states.Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya accompanied the president.Earlier, Sugiono confirmed that Prabowo would present Indonesia's position at the first BoP meeting.”The event is scheduled to begin at 8:40 a.m., with the BoP chair and executive board members delivering opening remarks. Member countries will also be given time to speak,” he told reporters on Wednesday.According to the official rundown issued by the organizer, the summit will begin with a photo session at 8:40 a.m., followed by an opening address by President Trump as host.Several key figures are scheduled to speak, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff, US Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz, and former British prime minister Tony Blair.Also on the speakers' list are Chief Commissioner of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza Ali Shaath and World Bank Group President Ajay Banga, among others.The opening session will be followed by an intervention segment, during which leaders of member states will deliver statements.Prabowo is scheduled to speak fourth, after King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.He will be followed by Romanian President Nicusor Dan, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, UAE Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the foreign ministers of Morocco, Turkiye, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia.President Trump is scheduled to close the summit after the voting session and adoption of a resolution.
