Indonesia secures export access to Türkiye, China

Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries has expanded Indonesian fishery export access through agreements with authorities in Türkiye and China, securing export approval numbers for 57 fish processing units.”After the issuance of the approval numbers, the 57 fishery businesses can export fish and other fishery products to Türkiye and China,” Head of the Agency for Quality Control and Supervision of Marine and Fishery Products, Ishartini, said in an official release in Jakarta on Monday. She explained that proposing fish processing units is more than just submitting a list; it involves technical verification and completing questionnaires that meet the specific requirements of Turkish and Chinese authorities. She added that the proposed units hold the Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) certificates and strictly implement sanitation, hygiene, and fish food safety standards.According to her, 56 units were submitted for approval to Türkiye, of which 52 have received approval numbers. The remaining four are still undergoing verification.Meanwhile, all five units proposed to China were immediately approved by the General Administration of Customs of the People’s Republic of China (GACC).Ishartini noted that the submission to Türkiye was urgent as the country is set to implement a new importation system called the Approved Establishment System of the Republic of Türkiye (TROIS).“Only approved companies that have been granted an approval number and are registered in the system will be allowed to export fish and fishery products to the country,” she said.Türkiye is considered a promising market for Indonesian fishery products. Data from 2025 show that seven main commodities exported to the country — including skipjack tuna, tuna, carrageenan, sardines, lemuru (Bali sardinella), octopus, and processed seaweed — reached a total volume of 2,600 tons, valued at US$4.6 million.Meanwhile, China remains Indonesia's largest export destination, with 1,080 types of fishery commodities shipped to the country. In 2025, Indonesia's fishery exports to China reached 491,528 tons, with a total value of US$1.04 billion. The main commodities exported to China include frozen squid, Eucheuma cottonii seaweed, Gracilaria seaweed, frozen ribbonfish, frozen leatherjacket fish, and frozen croaker.
