VP Gibran mourns passing of singer Vidi Aldiano

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka expressed condolences over the passing of Indonesian singer-songwriter Vidi Aldiano on Saturday afternoon.”I would like to tender my deepest condolences. Indonesia has just lost a talented young man whose works have brought colors, inspirations, and new hopes to the national art landscape,” he wrote on his Instagram account.In the comment section of one of Vidi's latest Instagram posts, Gibran said the singer's dedication to the music industry would always be remembered.He also reposted on his Instagram Story a picture announcing the singer's death, originally uploaded by CNN Indonesia.Vidi's passing was confirmed by his family and fellow musicians through social media posts.Magician and content creator Deddy Corbuzier mourned the 35-year-old singer's death in an emotional Instagram post.”My heart is broken. Badly broken. You went too soon. Beautiful soul, Vidi Aldiano,” he wrote, posting an image of a broken heart.In the caption, he added, “I hate myself for not knowing you longer than I should.” The post quickly drew thousands of comments.The two had collaborated on a podcast program in recent years.Born Oxavia Aldiano in Jakarta on March 29, 1990, Vidi passed away on Saturday afternoon after battling kidney cancer since being diagnosed in 2019.He reportedly underwent treatment overseas, which limited his entertainment activities in recent months.Since debuting in 2008, Vidi released six albums featuring several hits, including “Nuansa Bening,” “Status Palsu,” and “Cinta Jangan Kau Pergi.”He received several accolades during his career, including Best Pop Soloist (Male) at the 2009 Indonesian Music Awards and Male Singer of the Year at the 2015 Indonesian Choice Awards.In 2022, he married actress Sheila Dara, who later won the Citra Award for Best Actress at the 2025 Indonesian Film Festival.
