Kuala Lumpur (ANTARA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said a meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Friday was meaningful and opened constructive space to find common ground in addressing the West Asia conflict.“The meeting with President Prabowo today created constructive room to seek shared positions on the West Asia conflict, which is now straining global energy security and economic stability,” Anwar said in a statement that ANTARA quoted in Kuala Lumpur on Friday evening.Amid intensifying global uncertainty, Malaysia and Indonesia underscored the importance of strengthening principled regional solidarity to preserve peace, ensure stability and bolster economic resilience for public welfare, he said.Anwar and Prabowo agreed to step up diplomatic efforts to ease tensions, protect civilian lives and create space for negotiations toward a peaceful and sustainable resolution.“At the same time, the continuity of global supply chains and strategic trade routes, including the Strait of Hormuz, must be safeguarded,” Anwar said.He added that he had held a series of phone calls in recent weeks with international leaders to demonstrate solidarity, align positions and assess global impacts, particularly on energy and regional security.Malaysia, he said, remains firm in rejecting violence, upholding international law and urging all parties to return to a peaceful path.
