Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian furniture and home décor products recorded potential transactions worth US$743,070 at the Home Design exhibition in Budapest, underscoring growing demand from Central and Eastern Europe, an official said.The Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Budapest said the results highlight strong interest in Indonesian craftsmanship and design.“This potential transaction indicates the trust and enthusiasm of Hungarian and regional buyers for Indonesian furniture and home décor,” ITPC Head Suci Mahanani noted on Monday.Indonesia showcased four micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) at the March 25–29 event, presenting teak wood furniture with Javanese carvings, premium contemporary designs, copper and fossilized wood décor, and innovative mycelium-based furniture blending local materials with European aesthetics.Mahanani emphasized that Indonesian products stand out not only for quality but also for cultural design elements, natural materials, and sustainability — features increasingly valued by European consumers.ITPC also facilitated business matching sessions, promotional activities, and importer visits during the fair.Indonesian Ambassador to Hungary Penny D. Herasati stressed that quality remains the key to global competitiveness“We hope this exhibition will introduce the best Indonesian products that meet the stringent standards of the European market,” she said. Trade ties between Indonesia and Hungary continue to strengthen.Eurostat data show Hungarian imports from Indonesia grew by an average of 9.47 percent annually between 2021 and 2025.Statistics Indonesia (BPS) recorded bilateral trade at US$303.7 million in 2025, with non-oil and gas exports reaching US$113.8 million, up 10.65 percent year-on-year. Officials say the positive trend signals strong prospects for Indonesian lifestyle products to expand further into Central and Eastern Europe’s growing consumer markets.
