Finance Minister projects RI’s economy to grow 5.7 percent in Q2 2026

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa is projecting Indonesia's economic growth to reach 5.7 percent in the second quarter of 2026.He affirmed that the Indonesian government still has room to bolster economic activity in the second quarter, given that the current period has only reached April.“April is not over yet, and we still have May and June. Once the data for April is clear, we will review it and give the economy another push,” he told the press in Jakarta on Friday.Purbaya noted that the current rise in commodity prices will not necessarily slow down economic performance. He argued that the impact will depend largely on the scale of the price increases and how broadly they affect public economic activity. He identified crude palm oil as a commodity whose price increase could potentially pressure the economy. To address this, he will coordinate with relevant ministers to prevent the significant pressure from rising oil prices from affecting the national economy. If the economy appears to be slowing, he noted that his ministry is prepared to provide stimulus to maintain growth momentum.Furthermore, he asserted that he is open to accelerating budget realization for ministries and agencies that are still lagging, ensuring that funds can flow into the economic system more quickly. This step is seen as a way to maintain growth momentum in the second quarter. The minister ensured that upcoming policies will always consider the public's welfare, adding that President Prabowo Subianto has instructed that economic policies continue to prioritize the people’s interests. Therefore, the government will optimize various policies within ministries and agencies so that pro-people programs can be fast-tracked and provide tangible benefits to the economy.
