DPR to set up command center to address agrarian reform resolution

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (DPR) Sufmi Dasco Ahmad stated that the DPR will establish a command center to accelerate the resolution of issues related to agrarian reform.Speaking to labor union representatives during a meeting at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Friday, he explained that the command center will complement the existing special committee.”We will establish a command center that will be integrated with the leadership of Commission III,” he said.He noted that the Special Committee for the Resolution of Agrarian Conflicts, formed in October 2025, has faced delays as it has been heavily focused on synchronization. To accelerate progress, the committee will now be directly supervised by DPR Deputy Speaker Saan Mustopa.According to Ahmad, the command center will serve as a hub for public information regarding issues found on the ground, allowing the DPR to provide rapid responses and necessary mitigation measures. He also invited labor unions to actively engage with the DPR through discussions, urging them to list critical issues that need to be addressed immediately.Speaking at the meeting, Secretary General of the Consortium for Agrarian Reform (KPA) Dewi Kartika noted that despite the establishment of the special committee, issues persist on the ground. She explained that between December 2025 and April 2026, farmers, activists, and indigenous communities continued to face shootings, physical abuse, and arrests while defending their land. Therefore, Kartika assessed that agrarian reform requires political support from the DPR.”Without political pressure from the DPR, agrarian reform will never be realized and there will always be the same old excuses as to why land never actually reaches the hands of farmers and agricultural laborers,” she remarked.
