KAI prioritises recovery for safe train operations following crash

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Director of the state-owned railway operator PT KAI, Bobby Rasyidin, conveyed the corporate focus on operational recovery, providing support to customers and affected families, as well as strengthening the safety following an incident at the East Bekasi Station.”Our focus is ensuring the recovery process runs smoothly, supporting customers and families (of the victims of the East Bekasi Station's incident), and maintaining safety going forward. We will continue to be present throughout every step of the process,” Rasyidin said in a statement here on Sunday.He conducted a direct inspection of the train operations, including commuter line and long-distance train services on Manggarai to East Bekasi route, to ensure safe and controlled travel ahead of the workday.The visit began at Manggarai Station as the main operational hub, continued along Bekasi to East Bekasi Station route, to observe the condition of electric commuter train (KRL) services, the seamless operation of long-distance trains, and the support services provided on-site.Later, he visited Primaya Hospital in East Bekasi and Primaya Hospital in West Bekasi to check on the condition of customers who are still undergoing treatment and to provide direct support.As of Sunday, 81 hospitalized customers had returned home after treatment, while 19 others were still receiving further care at the hospital.KAI Vice President of Corporate Communications, Anne Purba, stated that ongoing support is being provided to ensure the smooth recovery process.”We continue to monitor the condition of customers receiving medical treatment and ensure that their healthcare needs are fully met. For those who have returned home, we will continue to provide support as needed,” Purba said.For customers who have sought medical treatment independently, KAI also provides a claim or reimbursement mechanism.Trauma healing services are also available for customers, with requests made through the Information Post or the call center at 0812-9660-5747. Initial support can be provided via telemedicine, while support for families in need can be provided in person.The East Bekasi help desk will remain in operation until May 11, 2026, by providing information, administration, and follow-up assistance.On the operational side, the Jabodetabek Commuter Line service has shown consistent improvement in recent days. Departure punctuality has gradually increased from 71.54 percent on Thursday (April 30) to 87.39 percent on Friday (May 1) and reached 88.84 percent on Saturday (May 2).Arrival punctuality has also increased from 68.46 percent to 84.86 percent, and the latest to 87.04 percent. Delays have also been reduced and are now more manageable.The long-distance train services through East Bekasi have also resumed with stable operating patterns. There are 32 trains departing from Pasarsenen and 36 from Gambir on this route daily.Since operations resumed on Tuesday (April 28), the Cikarang Commuter Line saw a record of 574,644 passengers.On Monday (April 27), a train collision between the Cikarang Commuter Line and the Argo Bromo Anggrek resulted in 16 deaths and 91 injuries at Bekasi Timur Station.
