Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia said the Philippines will be linked to the Trans Borneo Power Grid, expanding cross-border electricity transmission in Southeast Asia to improve efficiency and reliability, Energy Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said on Monday.“We have built a network between Malaysia and Indonesia and it will soon connect to the Philippines,” he said.Indonesia is building interconnection with Malaysia, including imports of hydropower for Kalimantan under bilateral cooperation. He said the scheme would help deliver more equitable, reliable and affordable electricity, including to remote areas.Separately, Lahadalia said Singapore plans to import clean electricity from Indonesia. He added any exports must be priced fairly and benefit Indonesia.Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto urged ASEAN to accelerate regional energy networks to address security risks from global pressures and Middle East instability. He said the BIMP-EAGA subregion has strong potential in hydropower, solar and wind, as well as underutilized land.Prabowo called for readiness among members to harness this potential for regional needs and energy transition goals. He urged concrete steps, including hydropower in Borneo, solar projects in Palawan and wind development in coastal areas. The president also highlighted Indonesia’s push to accelerate solar deployment.“Full speed ahead, 100 gigawatts of solar power—we invite partners to strengthen energy infrastructure,” he said.
