If our neighbors can issue permits in two weeks, why does it take us two years?Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto has instructed State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi to prepare the formation of a special task force aimed at accelerating deregulation efforts. He said the task force is necessary to simplify various regulations and business permits that are currently considered too layered and bureaucratic.”To the State Secretary Minister, I want you to gather experts and form a special task force to speed up deregulation. Simplify things; do not make them difficult,” Prabowo said at the Attorney General’s Office in Jakarta on Wednesday. The president noted that he frequently receives complaints from business players seeking to invest in Indonesia who are forced to wait up to two years for licensing approvals. He compared the situation with several Southeast Asian countries that can issue business permits within just two weeks.“If our neighbors can issue permits in two weeks, why does it take us two years? We need to simplify the regulations,” he stressed.Prabowo added that regulatory reform is an urgent priority because overly complicated rules can create opportunities for corruption. He also emphasized that deregulation is crucial for maintaining investor confidence and encouraging businesses to operate in Indonesia.“We need to help and support business players. We will discipline those who violate the rules. But those who act in good faith and genuinely want to work must be supported,” he said.
