Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Chairman of Commission I of the House of Representatives (DPR) Dave Laksono supports the government’s decision to deploy army personnel to Lebanon, as it demonstrates Indonesia’s continued commitment to maintaining world peace.He believes that Indonesian peacekeepers serving the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), does not only reflects international responsibility but also strengthens Indonesia's diplomacy in maintaining regional stability.”Commission I expresses its highest appreciation to all departing soldiers,” Dave said in Jakarta on Wednesday.However, Dave also emphasized that the safety and well-being of the soldiers in Lebanon must remain a top priority.He urged the Defense Ministry and the TNI to ensure optimal logistical support and coordination with related international partners.”Continuous evaluation on the field is necessary to ensure that every policy remains relevant and soldiers can carry out their duties safely,” he emphasized.Dave also stated that the peacekeeping mission must be carried out with high professionalism while upholding humanitarian values and safeguarding Indonesia’s reputation.Therefore, he called on all personnel to maintain discipline, solidarity, and fighting spirit throughout the mission.“This will make Indonesia’s contribution to world peace even more meaningful,” he remarked.With public support, Dave expressed confidence that the role of Indonesian peacekeeping troops in Lebanon would further strengthen Indonesia’s diplomacy and set a global example in promoting international stability and security.The government is scheduled to deploy 780 TNI personnel to the UNIFIL Garuda Contingent Task Force (Satgas Konga) at the end of May 2026. They will replace Indonesian soldiers who have completed a one-year peacekeeping mission in Lebanon.
