Aceh seeks UAE investment for green energy and tourism

Banda Aceh, Aceh (ANTARA) – Aceh Deputy Governor Fadhlullah is exploring investment cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in environmental, energy and tourism sectors to support sustainable development in the province.“Aceh has significant potential in natural resources, renewable energy and tourism that can be developed through synergy with international partners,” Fadhlullah said.The discussions took place during Fadhlullah’s meeting with United Arab Emirates Ambassador to Indonesia Abdulla Salem Al-Dhaheri at the UAE Embassy in Jakarta on May 25.Fadhlullah said international collaboration is essential to support sustainable development in Aceh, including efforts to preserve forest areas and the Gunung Leuser ecosystem, one of the world’s most important tropical forest regions.In addition to environmental conservation, the talks also covered opportunities for cooperation in the energy sector and community economic empowerment programs.The Aceh administration said partnership with the UAE is expected to open investment opportunities and development programs that directly contribute to improving public welfare across the province.Fadhlullah also proposed cooperation in tourism development, particularly in Sabang, which has strong potential to become one of Indonesia’s leading travel destinations.“Marine tourism, ecotourism and supporting tourism infrastructure are important priorities, and we hope this cooperation can be realized,” Fadhlullah said in a statement received in Banda Aceh on Tuesday, May 26.Aceh has intensified efforts to attract foreign investment as regional governments seek new funding sources to accelerate economic growth and infrastructure development.The province is promoting renewable energy projects and sustainable tourism initiatives while emphasizing environmental protection and preservation of biodiversity-rich conservation areas.Sabang, located at Indonesia’s westernmost point, has been positioned as a strategic tourism hub because of its marine attractions, diving sites and ecotourism potential.The UAE has expanded investment interests in Indonesia across infrastructure, renewable energy and tourism sectors as both countries strengthen economic cooperation in recent years.
