Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited young entrepreneurs to uphold strong nationalism in driving economic progress.Speaking at the 18th National Congress of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandar Lampung, Lampung Province, Subianto noted the thinkers who shaped modern capitalism acknowledge that nationalism is the primary driver of economic growth. He cited the views of sociologist and historian Liah Greenfeld from her book titled “The Spirit of Capitalism: Nationalism and Economic Growth”.”The takeaway for me is the final line, the sustained growth characteristic of modern economy is not self-sustained; it is stimulated and sustained by nationalism,” Subianto said citing Greenfeld. The president emphasised the experiences of various nations demonstrate a close link between nationalism and economic progress. The rise of a number of major world powers is inseparable from the national spirit they have fostered and nurtured.”Japan, the United States, and the entire West are advanced, and China is rising now; because of nationalism,” he noted. On that occasion, he also highlighted HIPMI's history, noting the association was established on a foundation of nationalism from its very inception. The president believes HIPMI plays a crucial role in nurturing a new generation of young entrepreneurs who will eventually lead various sectors across the nation.
