Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to its long-standing non-aligned foreign policy, saying the country seeks constructive relations with all nations while avoiding military alliances.”I am fortunate to inherit the legacy of our founding fathers. Indonesia's foreign policy is non-alignment. We are friends with all countries and avoid involvement in military pacts,” he said at the 18th National Conference of the Indonesian Young Entrepreneurs Association (HIPMI) in Bandar Lampung on Wednesday.Prabowo said he reaffirmed the foreign policy principles established by Indonesia's founding leaders shortly after taking office. He said maintaining an independent and active foreign policy is increasingly important amid current global tensions, including conflicts in the Middle East.”As soon as I received the mandate as president, I reaffirmed our non-aligned, independent and active foreign policy,” he said.Prabowo said Indonesia has maintained good relations with major powers, including the United States, Russia and China, as well as other countries.”Indonesia is now well regarded. Many countries seek cooperation with us because we are known for not wanting enemies,” he said.He also responded to criticism over his overseas trips, saying the visits were made at the invitation of friendly countries and aimed at advancing Indonesia's national interests. To support those interests, Indonesia participates in international forums and groups including APEC, the OIC, the G20 and BRICS.”To protect the interests of our people, we must maintain good relations with all governments. That is why I say Indonesia practices a good-neighbor policy,” Prabowo said.
