Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the government has distributed nearly 1,000 units of modern medical equipment to regional hospitals as part of a national healthcare modernization program.Speaking during the inauguration of the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital in Krui, Pesisir Barat, Lampung, on Wednesday, Prabowo said the equipment had begun to be distributed to regional hospitals in all 514 districts and cities nationwide.”The government is implementing a national healthcare modernization program. We have distributed nearly 1,000 units of modern medical equipment. Distribution has begun to all regional hospitals in 514 districts and cities,” he said.According to Prabowo, the program is aimed at strengthening the capacity of regional hospitals so residents can receive faster and higher-quality healthcare services without having to travel to major cities for treatment.He cited the KH Muhammad Thohir Regional General Hospital as an example of a facility that has been equipped with modern medical devices and will continue to receive upgrades in stages.Prabowo said the distribution of medical equipment is being carried out alongside efforts to expand healthcare infrastructure across the country.The government built 22 regional general hospitals in 2025 and is constructing another 22 this year.”I hereby state that the government will build and modernize 350 hospitals over the next three years,” he said.According to the president, hospital development and modernization form part of the government's broader effort to improve the quality of healthcare services more evenly across Indonesia.He added that the first 20 hospitals included in the modernization program have been completed and have begun serving local communities.Prabowo stressed that healthcare modernization reflects the government's commitment to ensuring more equitable access to quality healthcare, particularly for residents in regions with limited medical facilities.
