Indonesian beauty firms secure US$6.5 million Turkiye deals

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian beauty and wellness companies generated potential transactions worth US$6.52 million at the 7th Beauty Istanbul 2026 exhibition, underscoring growing opportunities for the country's consumer-product exporters in Turkiye's expanding cosmetics market.Indonesia's trade attaché in Ankara, Banny Ratno Ramadhani, said Thursday that Turkiye's beauty sector has been growing rapidly, creating new opportunities for Indonesian manufacturers seeking to diversify export destinations.The transaction commitments recorded during the exhibition signal strong demand and could encourage deeper engagement with Turkish buyers and distributors, according to the Trade Ministry.The government hopes more Indonesian exporters will view Turkiye as a promising export market and increase their presence in the country, Banny said.Indonesia's pavilion hosted six leading beauty-sector companies, providing a platform to showcase products and build commercial partnerships with international buyers.Displayed products included lipsticks, serums, moisturizers, bar soaps, hair vitamins, conditioners, perfumes, hair dyes and colognes.Participation in the exhibition reflects government efforts to help Indonesian products gain wider recognition in overseas markets and strengthen export competitiveness, Banny said.Total trade between Indonesia and Turkey reached US$873.8 million in January through April 2026, highlighting the growing economic relationship between the two countries.Indonesia exported US$700.9 million of goods to Turkiye and imported US$173 million, resulting in a trade surplus of US$527.9 million during the four-month period.For full-year 2025, bilateral trade totaled US$2.30 billion, according to Trade Ministry data.Indonesia's exports to Turkiye reached US$1.72 billion, while imports from Turkey stood at US$575.3 million, generating a trade surplus of approximately US$1.15 billion.Indonesia's leading exports to Turkiye include iron and steel, artificial staple fibers, animal and vegetable fats and oils, electrical machinery and equipment, and aluminum products.Key imports from Turkiye include metal ores, slag and ash, electrical machinery and equipment, as well as optical and precision instruments.The latest exhibition results suggest Indonesian beauty brands are gaining traction abroad as exporters seek higher-value markets beyond traditional commodity trade and capitalize on rising consumer demand in emerging economies.
