Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) confirmed ongoing efforts to finalize a presidential regulation (Perpres) governing cooperatives under the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP) program.KSP Chief Dudung Abdurrahman inspected preparations for a KDMP in Arjowirangun Village, Malang City, East Java, on Friday (June 12), noting that the cooperative has been well equipped for business and now awaits the Perpres to fully operate.”I will report to President (Prabowo Subianto) as soon as possible so that the presidential regulation can be issued promptly,” he said in a statement cited in Jakarta on Saturday.Dudung then highlighted the role of state-run food company Agrinas Pangan Nusantara in providing initial capital support to enable cooperatives to begin operation and serve communities. The KSP chief further lauded KDMP operators for making optimal preparations, noting that personnel, buildings, equipment, operational vehicles, and other facilities had been readied.“All that is left to expect is the presidential regulation. Let us hope that it will soon be issued to enable cooperatives to commence operation,” said the retired army general. An on-site inspection showed that construction of the Arjowirangun KDMP facility has been completed. However, cooperative operation remains pending verification and validation, which are prerequisites for asset handover to the operators.Meanwhile, recruitment for KDMP managers is still underway, with selected candidates set to conclude training by August 2026.Besides technical readiness, program implementation requires a clear, comprehensive regulatory framework. To that end, the Ministry of Cooperatives has initiated the drafting of the presidential regulation, which will govern cooperative management, asset administration, budgeting, employment relations, and business proceedings. The regulation is seen as key to accelerating the operationalization of thousands of cooperatives already established across the country.
