Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) underscored the critical role of robust economic diplomacy in attracting foreign investment and expanding international trade amid shifting global economic dynamics.Kadin Chairman Anindya Bakrie made the statement during the Kadin Monthly Economic Diplomatic Breakfast, which featured Foreign Minister Sugiono as the keynote speaker in Jakarta on Friday (June 12).Bakrie noted that under the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and Foreign Minister Sugiono, the government has significantly increased opportunities for the private business sector to participate directly in state economic diplomacy.”This is the best form of economic diplomacy. There are not many opportunities when the government and the business world can work together to promote national economic interests,” Bakrie said in his statement. As a primary example of this synergy, Bakrie pointed to President Prabowo’s recent state visit to France, where Kadin was heavily involved in the business-to-business (B2B) agenda. The collaboration resulted in the formation of the France-Indonesia High-Level Business Council—a long-term collaborative forum for enterprises from both nations. The council successfully convened major corporate entities from Indonesia and France representing a combined market capitalization of US$1.3 trillion. The meetings resulted in new business agreements valued at US$3.5 billion. This new capital complements a US$11 billion investment commitment previously established during French President Emmanuel Macron’s state visit to Indonesia last year.To further support international trade, Kadin is deploying practical initiatives to push Indonesian businesses into the global spotlight. The chamber is currently expanding its “We Buy From Indonesia” campaign, which aims to integrate national products into global supply chains. In addition, the Kadin Export Academy is scaling up operations to train and equip local businesses to successfully penetrate competitive foreign markets.Foreign Minister Sugiono, who took part in the forum, stated that economic diplomacy remains an integral part of the government's constitutional mandate to protect the populace and improve public welfare. He reiterated that Indonesia welcomes international economic partnerships as long as they adhere to the principles of mutual respect and mutual benefit.”We want to collaborate with all parties in the economic sector based on the principles of mutual respect and appreciation to achieve shared benefits that can be used for the prosperity and well-being of the people,” Sugiono said.Sugiono added that the high level of interest from foreign enterprises to invest in Indonesia’s development reflects strong global confidence in the nation's long-term economic prospects.
