Prabowo invites Germany to play more active role for global stability

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has invited the German government to play a more active role in international diplomacy to ensure global peace and stability amid growing uncertainty.”President Steinmeier and I agree that all conflicts must be resolved through negotiation. We are working together in the diplomatic arena to promote and ensure global peace and stability,” Prabowo said.This was conveyed by the president during a joint press statement while receiving German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Monday.Prabowo emphasized that strengthening and sustaining the partnership between Indonesia and Germany is now a top priority for his administration.The state visit is deemed highly significant and serves as a strong testament to the robust bilateral relations between the two nations.”I strongly believe that Germany must play a more active and vital role because we need a strong partnership with Germany and with Europe,” Prabowo remarked.The meeting in Jakarta also serves as a preliminary agenda leading up to the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Germany bilateral relations in 2027.In addition to global peace, Indonesia also pushed for the ratification of the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (Indonesia-EU CEPA).The Indonesian government expressed hope that Germany will continue to play an active role in finalizing the agreement internally within Europe to deliver concrete benefits to the business community.Accompanied by First Lady Elke Büdenbender, Steinmeier earlier arrived at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base in Jakarta on Monday at 9 a.m. local time.President Prabowo then personally welcomed the German leader at the Merdeka Palace upon his arrival at the complex at around 11:30 a.m. local time.
