Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government will introduce a series of measures to improve the governance of Nutrition Service Fulfillment Units (SPPG) under the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program, including a grading system and a review of incentive schemes.Government Communication Agency (Bakom) Head Muhammad Qodari said the government will prioritize improving the operational quality of existing SPPG units rather than expanding the network.”The first step is a moratorium on the construction of new SPPG because the existing ones are considered sufficient and will be reorganized. The focus is on the currently operational SPPG,” Qodari said in a statement on Wednesday. He added that the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is also preparing a revised incentive mechanism for SPPG operators.Under the proposed scheme, incentives may once again be linked to the number of beneficiaries served. The government also plans to implement a grading system based on SPPG performance, under which each unit will be classified according to the quality of services it provides. As a result, the incentives received by each SPPG will be determined by two main factors: the number of beneficiaries served and the results of its quality assessment.Qodari said the government will tighten evaluations of operational aspects that have been implemented so far.Supervision will be strengthened on various aspects, including facility conditions, compliance with operational requirements, food preparation processes, and health and hygiene standards. The measures are expected to improve the quality of meals received by students and other beneficiaries of the MBG program.According to Qodari, improving service quality has become the government's main priority after the MBG service network expanded rapidly in recent months.”The focus is no longer on quantity, but on quality. In addition to SPPG quality, improvements in efficiency are also expected next,” he said.
