Jakarta (ANTARA) – State Electricity Company (PLN) President Director Darmawan Prasodjo, accompanied by a delegation, visited President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Monday to report developments in the rolling blackout affecting Java.Speaking at a press conference before meeting the president, Prasodjo confirmed that temporary power outages had been rolling across several regions in Java since last week.“Since yesterday, Sunday, the conditions of the electricity system on Java Island have begun to improve, enabling us to scale down the rolling blackout,” he remarked. He attributed the improvement to the resumed supplies of primary energy that meet generator specifications, both for PLN-operated facilities and independent power producers (IPPs).On Sunday night, he added, one of the two major IPP plants previously out of commission due to technical issues was restored and synchronized with the electricity system.“Last week, PLN and its IPP partner promptly deployed a team to conduct repairs. We received good news last night that one major generator has been recovered and synchronized with the power system and is now beginning to supply electricity,” he remarked. The PLN chief also tendered a public apology for the inconveniences caused by last week’s power outages and asked for support as restoration efforts continue.“We would like to ask for prayers and support from all elements of society so that we can put all-out effort into all our tasks,” he stated. He pledged continued efforts not only to restore generators but also to overhaul primary energy supply management to strengthen the resilience of power plants owned by PLN and IPPs.PLN, he continued, is committed to continuous monitoring of system conditions to ensure service reliability across the island.Additionally, Prasodjo expressed appreciation to the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and other stakeholders for backing PLN in carrying out its public service duties.
