Bandung (ANTARA) – Deputy Minister of Industry Faisol Riza has called on the national textile industry to strengthen its competitiveness through corporate restructuring, increased investment, and wider adoption of technology to better compete in the global market.He said strengthening the industry requires more than increasing production capacity. It must also be supported by greater investment, research and development, and the adoption of modern technologies.”We need to initiate measures that will strengthen the textile industry's unity and enable it to focus on key production capabilities. These efforts should include improving the investment climate and accelerating technology adoption. All of these initiatives must be driven through stronger collaboration within the textile industry,” Faisol said in Bandung, West Java Province on Wednesday.According to him, one of the biggest challenges facing the textile industry today is enhancing companies' capacity to become more competitive in the global market.He emphasized that stronger collaboration among industry players is essential to accelerate the transformation of the national textile sector and enable it to respond to evolving market demands.Faisol added that the government is also encouraging the restructuring of textile companies as part of broader efforts to strengthen the competitiveness of the domestic industry amid increasingly intense global competition.In addition to corporate restructuring, he said the government has prepared various support programs for labor-intensive industries, including the textile sector, through financing schemes and some incentives that are currently being discussed with business players.”We have already prepared several programs, including financing facilities for labor-intensive industries. We are also formulating other incentives, which will be finalized after further discussions with industry stakeholders,” he said.Meanwhile, Head of the Industrial Vocational Education Development Center at the Ministry of Industry Wulan Aprilianti Permatasari said the quality of human resources is a key factor in maintaining an attractive investment climate while enhancing the competitiveness of the national textile industry.She noted that the increasingly dynamic development of the industry requires workers to possess competencies that meet industry needs, particularly in technology and innovation.”Our human resources must be prepared as well as possible through applied bachelor's degree programs. They must be able to apply technology to meet industrial needs and master technology innovation in the textile sector,” Wulan said.She added that in addition to technological capabilities, nationally and internationally recognized professional certifications should also be strengthened to enhance the competitiveness of vocational graduates and enable them to meet the needs of industries both at home and abroad.
