Jakarta (ANTARA) – His Majesty's Trade Commissioner (HMTC) for Asia Pacific Martin Kent said UK Export Finance (UKEF) is prepared to provide up to £4 billion in financing to support a wide range of development projects in Indonesia. As the United Kingdom government's export credit agency, UKEF provides financing and insurance to help overseas buyers and investors implement projects using British goods and services.”UKEF now has up to £4 billion of financing capacity available for Indonesia, and it stands ready to deploy that £4 billion to provide competitive UK financing solutions to support Indonesia's future ambitions,” Kent said at the UK-Indonesia Railway Partnership Forum 2026 on Wednesday.Kent noted that His Majesty’s Treasury recently allocated an additional £50 billion to UKEF to expand the agency's global operations. He said the agency is ready to support Indonesian railway developers by bringing the United Kingdom's expertise to the country, covering planning, engineering, operations, financing, and transit-oriented development.Kent highlighted that the UK rail sector is among the world's most advanced, employing approximately 100 thousand people and exporting more than £1 billion worth of railway equipment and services annually.”This is one of the standout, differentiating factors of working with the UK, representing a permanent commitment to providing export finance in innovative ways tailored to Indonesia's specific needs,” he said. The commissioner emphasized that the United Kingdom has played an active role in developing Indonesia's modern transportation network.British companies contributed to the development of Jakarta's first Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) system, he said. I hope they strengthen relationships and support the successful delivery of projects that will benefit communities and economies across the whole of Indonesia,” he said.
