Danantara moves to restructure financially stressed SOE property units

Jakarta (ANTARA) – State investment entity Danantara is preparing to consolidate state-owned enterprises (SOEs) operating in the property sector, aiming to rescue struggling firms and unlock a massive backlog of unsold public housing.Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria announced the restructuring plan in Jakarta on Friday (July 31), noting that the agency intends to revamp state property developers through a corporate-driven approach.”Actually, Danantara Housing means that we want to consolidate all of our property companies. But you all know the situation that all of the property companies are also not in good condition,” Dony said in his statement. He explained that Danantara will address the financial conditions of each state developer individually, including managing debt restructuring under the Suspension of Debt Payment Obligations (PKPU) process—such as in the case of PP Properti—as well as handling asset impairments.Once state-owned property developers achieve financial stability, Danantara will calculate and compile the total unsold property inventory across all units for unified marketing and distribution.”From this total inventory, we will later carry out marketing so people can access all the inventory owned by SOEs property. It is not just the property, we also make financing products,” Dony said.To support the scheme, state-owned banks under the Association of State-Owned Banks (Himbara) will develop lower-cost mortgage products to make housing credit more accessible to the public, he added.Earlier, Investment and Downstreaming Minister/Head of BKPM and Danantara CEO Rosan Roeslani noted that the Danantara Housing initiative is designed to assist state developers in selling completed houses and apartments that remain unabsorbed by the market.Through the initiative, buyers will be able to access unsold state-built homes with more competitive interest rates and flexible payment structures, expanding homeownership access while resolving inventory backlogs.
