Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto has urged companies holding special mining permits (IUPK) to adhere to Indonesia’s natural resource downstreaming policy aimed at generating greater added value, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia said.“Mr. President’s directive is for them to carry out downstreaming efforts in accordance with applicable rules,” he told the press at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Tuesday.Bahlil made the statement after joining Prabowo in a limited meeting with Danantara Chief Operating Officer Dony Oskaria and Development Control and Special Investigation Agency (Bappisus) Chief Aris Marsudiyanto.The minister emphasized that IUPK-holding businesses are expected to support the downstreaming agenda, aligning with Article 33 of the 1945 Constitution.Prabowo has highlighted the article on many occasions, stressing the constitutional mandate for the state to ensure control of strategic resources for the benefit of the broader public.Apart from downstreaming, the meeting addressed recurring power outages in several regions across Kalimantan Island. The president urged the energy minister to work with the State Electricity Company (PLN) to tackle the issue.“We must admit that blackouts remain an issue in several regions; they are still evident at several points in Kalimantan. Hence, Mr. President ordered me to take measured steps to address the problem alongside PLN,” Bahlil remarked.Citing PLN, Bahlil clarified that the power outages had been mainly caused by maintenance work, stressing that “there is no problem” with energy supplies.He affirmed that his ministry would immediately work with PLN to address the issue.The discussion also touched on global oil prices, with the president reinforcing the government’s commitment to keeping subsidized fuel prices unchanged.“However, if the global crude price declines, we may consider adjusting the prices of non-subsidized fuels to market levels,” Bahlil remarked.
