Indonesia seeks to spotlight voice actors in animation industry

Indonesia is vast, and everyone has the same opportunities,Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Ministry of Creative Economy is encouraging Indonesian voice actors to confidently showcase their talents on the national stage.Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar said here on Sunday that voice actors play a crucial role in the animation and film industries, yet their work often goes unnoticed because it is not visually visible.“Voice-over is the soul of animation. Now is the time for them to step into the light, because behind every character we enjoy, there is a voice that brings it to life,” she said during the Wonder Voice of Indonesia event on Sunday.She noted that Indonesia has many talented voice actors across the country, but not all have had the opportunity to develop their skills. She encouraged talents from both major cities and remote areas to be confident, create, and actively network.“Don’t feel inferior just because you live in a small town. You are a hidden gem waiting to be seen. Indonesia is vast, and everyone has the same opportunities,” she said.The government is committed to strengthening the creative economy ecosystem to ensure that industry growth is not concentrated only in major cities.One of the efforts carried out is collaboration between central and local governments, including the establishment of creative economy offices across regions.Umar also emphasized the importance of communities and associations for voice actors to support one another and expand professional networks, opening more opportunities in the creative industry.The Wonder Voice of Indonesia competition aims to discover and develop professional voice talent nationwide. This year, the event recorded a record 7,200 participants, whom Umar described as inspirational individuals brave enough to step into the spotlight.The event provided intensive voice-over training and aimed to open career opportunities.
