Jakarta (ANTARA) – Deputy Cooperatives Minister Farida Farichah underscored Indonesian cooperatives’ potential to produce skilled professional workers qualified for overseas employment as their businesses expand beyond savings, loan, and trade activities.She delivered the remarks while sending off 86 Indonesian migrant workers bound for Japan under Kita Miraino Hikari Cooperative’s program at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday (Aug. 5).“The Kita Miraino Hikari Cooperative has shown that young people are capable of managing cooperatives with digital technology and deploy workers abroad,” Farichah noted in a statement cited here on Thursday.She pointed out that the Revolving Fund Management Agency (LPDB) of the Cooperatives Ministry had disbursed Rp55 billion (around US$3 million) in operational funding, enabling the cooperative to serve prospective migrant workers without imposing any guarantee fee.“This is the government’s affirmation. With very low interest rates, the cooperative empowers communities. The innovative financing scheme has even allowed some workers to go overseas without spending a rupiah,” she said.Farichah stressed that the development proves cooperative modernization can contribute to the real sector, including by opening access to overseas job markets.She urged the migrant workers to uphold integrity and professionalism to safeguard Indonesia’s reputation and enhance their skills while abroad, so they can apply them upon returning home.Kita Miraino Hikari Cooperative Head Aditya Affasha Riawan confirmed that deploying the 86 skilled workers was made possible through collaboration with the Cooperatives Ministry's LPDB and a job training center.He also assured that the cooperative would continue to oversee and guide the workers throughout their employment in Japan.The migrant delegation comprises trained workers specializing in various sectors, including hospitality and construction services.
