Danantara, JBS Group partner to develop Indonesia’s protein ecosystem

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Danantara Investment Management (DIM), a subsidiary of Indonesia’s sovereign wealth fund Danantara Indonesia, has forged a long-term strategic partnership with the Brazilian protein producer JBS Group to drive the development of Indonesia's protein ecosystem.Chief Investment Officer of Danantara Indonesia Pandu Patria Sjahrir said in a statement released here on Friday (August 7) that the agreement reflects the fund's commitment to collaborating with global players that align with its investment mandate. He stated that the strategic move will provide DIM with access to mature markets and experienced management teams with proven operational capabilities.”In addition to gaining access to an established business ecosystem in advanced international markets, this partnership is expected to leverage the experience and distribution channels of a leading global protein company, which will contribute to the long-term development of Indonesia's protein sector,” Sjahrir noted. The partnership involves a US$2.5 billion investment for a 25 percent stake in a new joint venture (JV) managing JBS's operations in Australia and New Zealand.Furthermore, the JV can raise up to an additional US$2.5 billion in gradual investment financing, bringing the total available capital to US$5 billion.”This financing will be used to fund acquisitions and greenfield investments in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand,” Sjahrir added.Meanwhile, Chief Executive Officer of JBS Global Gilberto Tomazoni emphasized that the partnership with Danantara marks a crucial step in the company's long-term growth strategy for Southeast Asia.”Together with Danantara, we are well-positioned to expand our presence in Indonesia and Southeast Asia, strengthen the regional protein supply chain, broaden market access, and accelerate the development of Indonesia's protein sector,” Tomazoni said.
