Ministry backs Prabowo’s green agenda for public prosperity

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Environment Minister Moh Jumhur Hidayat reaffirmed his ministry’s support for President Prabowo Subianto’s green policies, saying conservation must deliver tangible economic benefits and prosperity for Indonesians.“This is our collective commitment to the ‘no generation left behind’ principle, ensuring today’s green transition becomes a legacy of prosperity, not a future burden,” Jumhur said Saturday.Jumhur made the statement in response to environmental policies outlined by Prabowo during his State of the Nation Address at the MPR Annual Session in Jakarta on Friday.Prabowo outlined key policies on environmental protection and green transformation, which he said would guide the central government’s work. The president stressed the importance of managing and protecting Indonesia’s natural wealth so it can be used fully for the prosperity of all Indonesians. The Environment Ministry is prioritizing natural resource protection, social justice and practical solutions for communities in its policy agenda, Jumhur said.Jumhur reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to sustainable resource management so the benefits of environmental conservation are shared fairly across society. The ministry said the state must play an active role in ensuring natural resource wealth is shared collectively, underpinning its push for equitable access. It is also pursuing environmental policies that prioritize public interests and protect Indonesia from threats, including economic risks linked to global climate change.Jumhur said he was optimistic that strong cross-sector cooperation would make the green transition protect Indonesia’s ecosystems while supporting robust and equitable economic growth.
