International concerts open doors for 27.4 mln creative workers: Govt

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Creative Economy Teuku Riefky Harsya stated that the upcoming international concert in Indonesia could open up economic opportunities for 27.4 million creative workers across various creative economy subsectors. He highlighted the potential economic ripple effects of Andrea Bocelli’s upcoming concert, which would involve a broad range of creative industry workers, from performers to backstage crews.”This has excellent potential for experience, knowledge transfer, and also for the actualization of Indonesian creative talent,” Harsya noted in a statement on Thursday. He views the economic opportunities generated by concerts as extending beyond singers and performers, noting that live performances also require professionals across various fields, including orchestras, stage management, production, audio engineering, and lighting. This involvement also provides opportunities for local creative talent to gain experience and transfer knowledge from organizing international-standard performances, he emphasized. The minister then added that the economic impact can also be extended to businesses and other creative subsectors through the Creative Village concept.According to him, the Ministry of Creative Economy, along with the organizing committee, will curate a number of local products to be introduced to concert attendees. He then said that the event could also serve as a platform to showcase and market fashion, culinary, craft, and other creative products.Harsya addressed that the opportunity was even greater, as international concerts could attract audiences from various countries, who would not only attend the performances but also represent potential markets for Indonesian creative products.”As audiences make their way from the entrance to the venue, they can enjoy the event while also being introduced to a variety of high-quality Indonesian creative products displayed along the route,” he said. The minister also noted that international events could serve as a platform for expanding creative economic activity, from creating jobs for professionals and facilitating collaboration and knowledge transfer to connecting local products with broader markets.
