Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) have launched the 2026–2030 Country Programming Framework (CPF) to accelerate the transition toward sustainable agrifood systems.Deputy for Food, Natural Resources, and Environmental Affairs at the Indonesian Ministry of National Development Planning, Leonardo Adypurnama Alias Teguh Sambodo, noted that the framework aligns with the 2025–2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN).“The 2026–2030 CPF outlines FAO support across key areas to transform our agrifood systems, build climate resilience, and strengthen risk adaptation, which will bolster our foundation for long-term growth,” Sambodo said in an official statement received in Jakarta on Friday.Launched in Jakarta on Thursday (August 20), the CPF serves as a five-year cooperation framework between Indonesia and the FAO, focusing on building sustainable, resilient, and inclusive food and agricultural systems.The framework outlines three main areas of collaboration: the transformation toward sustainable and inclusive agrifood systems; biodiversity conservation and sustainable natural resource management; and the strengthening of integrated, risk-responsive systems through a One Health approach.It also directs FAO support toward four key targets: better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life for all without leaving anyone behind, in line with national and global development goals.Agriculture Ministry Secretary-General Suwandi stated that the government hopes the partnership between Indonesia and the FAO will evolve into a two-way collaboration, including through knowledge and experience sharing.Apart from the RPJMN, the 2026-2030 CPF is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2026–2030.FAO Representative for Indonesia and Timor-Leste Rajendra Aryal said the CPF is designed by considering the interconnections between agriculture, food and nutrition security, natural resource management, climate action, social protection, health, and economic development.This holistic perspective, Aryal added, is vital to addressing complex and interconnected challenges.The FAO notes that Indonesia still faces several challenges in its agrifood systems, including climate change, unequal access to healthy diets, and persistent poverty among farmers, the majority of whom are smallholder farmers.The State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World 2026 report states that approximately 68.6 percent of Indonesia’s population remains unable to afford a healthy diet in 2025.The CPF implementation is also directed toward mobilizing investment for agrifood system transformation through budgeting, blended finance, co-investment, and private sector engagement.The FAO stated that this support aims to strengthen food and nutrition security, environmental health, resilient and inclusive economic growth, and the overall sustainability of Indonesia's agrifood systems.
