Indonesia Air Force holds defensive attack drills at Iswahjudi base

Magetan, (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Air Force (TNI AU) carried out defensive surface attack training (DSAT) at Iswahjudi Air Base as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s air defense capabilities.The exercise, part of Mission Oriented Training (MOT) 2025, runs from Oct. 25 to Nov. 6, Air Base Commander Air Marshal Muchtadi Anjar Legowo said in Magetan, East Java.“DSAT is an aerial combat drill focused on attacking ground targets while defending against enemy threats,” he said in a statement quoted by ANTARA on Sunday.The exercise involved 12 sorties, including F-16 Fighting Falcons from Squadrons 3 and 14, Golden Eagle T-50i jets from Squadron 15, and Sukhoi Su-27/30 aircraft from Squadron 11 based in Makassar.Drills simulated integrated air combat missions, covering tactical maneuvers, air-to-ground strikes, and high-speed interceptions over the Iswahjudi training airspace.“All flights were conducted according to standard operating procedures with no technical or safety issues,” Legowo said.He added that the exercise is part of the Air Force’s ongoing efforts to enhance personnel professionalism and operational readiness, prioritizing both flight safety and mission effectiveness under national air defense doctrine.The MOT 2025 phase was officially opened by Air Marshal Minggit Tribowo, Commander of the National Air Operations Command, on Oct. 25.Training is conducted during both day and night to cover the full spectrum of air operations, further reinforcing Indonesia’s defensive capabilities.
