Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia’s Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program for pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and non-preschool toddlers — known as the 3B group — has reached more than 3 million beneficiaries.Population and Family Development Minister Wihaji announced the update after meeting President Prabowo Subianto in Jakarta on Tuesday to report on his ministry’s recent activities.He said nearly 600,000 family assistance teams (TPK) are supporting the program in coordination with the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).Of that number, more than 42,000 TPK teams have recorded MBG distribution to the 3B target groups, resulting in more than 3 million beneficiaries to date.Wihaji said President Prabowo intends to provide motorcycles to TPK members and field instructors as recognition for their work in delivering MBG assistance.”The President stated that he will provide motorcycles to all field instructors in Indonesia to ease their work in distributing MBG. These motorcycles will be designated for family planning counselors and officers,” Wihaji said.He added that the assistance will likely be in the form of electric motorcycles to improve the mobility of workers distributing MBG packages.The President also instructed field counselors to continue strengthening their skills through education and outreach on family planning programs as part of broader efforts to enhance family welfare.Launched on January 6, the MBG program is considered a strategic investment to support the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision by improving the health and competitiveness of future generations.With a budget of Rp71 trillion (about US$4.29 billion), free meals are distributed to students, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, and toddlers.The program has also generated new jobs and created a multiplier effect benefiting farmers, fishermen, and local food suppliers.
