Prabowo reviews two years of government performance

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto convened senior officials, including ministers and heads of government agencies, for a plenary cabinet meeting to evaluate nearly two years of government performance and prepare for Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day celebrations.Addressing cabinet members at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, he said the evaluation was essential to review government programs and policies while identifying shortcomings and areas for improvement.“We have been working very hard for almost two years. Our heavy workloads may have made us lose track of how much we have achieved in the first two years,” Prabowo said.He acknowledged that his administration's first two years had been marked by significant challenges, including those stemming from increasingly complex global dynamics. The president urged all members of the Red White Cabinet to focus on addressing existing problems and avoid placing blame on previous administrations, emphasizing that every government faces challenges unique to its era.Prabowo acknowledged that Indonesia continues to grapple with low teacher welfare, limited job opportunities, extreme poverty, economic inequality, and illegal trade practices that have distorted the national economy. The head of state emphasized that his administration views these challenges as motivation to work to the fullest extent in carrying out the mandate entrusted by the people. While acknowledging existing shortcomings, he affirmed that the government had recorded numerous achievements over the past two years.“The latest report indicates 108 problems solved in more than one year of our administration. This is not a trivial feat,” he said.Even so, the president urged cabinet members not to become complacent or boastful and to continue improving their performance. He also highlighted food security as one of the key indicators of a nation's success.According to Prabowo, strengthening food security requires sufficient access to water and fertilizer, fertile land, and effective government policies. He also highlighted the Free Nutritious Meals program, the distribution of digital interactive screens to schools, efforts to strengthen energy security, investment promotion, the establishment of village cooperatives, and housing development for low-income people. All topics discussed during the meeting will be compiled into a report on the government’s performance over the past year, ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 17, 2026.
