Jakarta (ANTARA) – Trade Minister Budi Santoso has assured that prices of staple goods remain stable and supplies are sufficient ahead of the national religious holidays of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.During a visit to Cuplik Market in Sukoharjo, Central Java, on Tuesday, he said that overall prices and supplies of key commodities were stable. Communities across Indonesia, he added, can shop as usual to prepare for the upcoming holidays.“Today, we inspected the market to ensure price and supply conditions ahead of the fasting month and Eid. Overall, prices are good and stable. Please shop as usual,” he said in a statement here on Tuesday.Based on monitoring at Cuplik Market, most staple food prices were observed to be stable and below the Reference Price (HA) or the Highest Retail Price (HET).Bulk granulated sugar was recorded at Rp17,000 per kilogram (kg), broiler chicken meat at Rp38,000-40,000 per kg, chicken eggs at Rp28,000 per kg, shallots at Rp38,000-40,000 per kg, curly red chilies at Rp32,000-34,000 per kg, and honan garlic at Rp32,000-33,000 per kg.For Minyakita brand cooking oil, prices were in line with the HET at Rp15,700 per liter, with adequate supply available. The government continues to encourage cooking oil producers to increase production, including expanding production of other affordable packaged cooking oil brands, or second brands, to strengthen supply availability in the market.“Cooking oil in the market is not only Minyakita. We are asking producers to increase production, including second-brand cooking oil, to strengthen supply,” he said. However, several commodities require attention, including medium rice, which was priced at around Rp14,000-14,500 per kilogram, above the Zone I HET of Rp13,500 per kilogram. Red bird’s eye chili prices were also observed at Rp82,000-84,000 per kilogram, exceeding the reference price. The increase in red bird’s eye chili prices was influenced by high rainfall in production centers, affecting productivity and distribution.
