Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto outlined plans to keep Indonesia’s growth above five percent while accelerating connectivity and energy transition, pitching policy stability and investment opportunities to US business leaders in Washington.Speaking at the US Chamber of Commerce headquarters in Washington on Wednesday, Prabowo met executives from the chamber, the US-ASEAN Business Council, and the US-Indonesia Society. He said cooperation, collaboration, and compromise among national leaders are essential to sustaining economic expansion and strengthening investor confidence in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.“I learned that cooperation, collaboration, and compromise will ultimately prove more useful and beneficial for all parties,” Prabowo said, stressing that stability underpins long-term growth.Political stability, rule of law, and good governance are key to maintaining investor trust, he said, adding that Indonesia has pursued reforms to improve transparency and fight corruption.Prabowo said Indonesia’s economic fundamentals remain solid, supported by fiscal discipline and growth consistently above five percent, which he expects to strengthen further.A central pillar of his strategy is strengthening the grassroots economy to ensure gains are broadly shared and resilient over time. The government aims to sustain expansion while managing natural resources responsibly, balancing higher output with environmental stewardship, he said.“We want the ability to sustain growth, but we must also ensure our natural resources are utilized in a healthy and sustainable way,” Prabowo said.Infrastructure and connectivity development remain top priorities, with significant work ahead to improve logistics efficiency across the archipelago.Indonesia plans to build ports, airports, and toll roads to cut transport costs and enhance competitiveness, he said.Energy transition forms part of the long-term agenda, with commitments to renewable power, electric vehicles, and green industries, though Prabowo described the approach as pragmatic.Combining political stability, investment promotion, infrastructure expansion, and a measured energy shift will help preserve growth momentum and strengthen Indonesia’s global competitiveness, he said.Prabowo invited US companies to invest, highlighting 18 downstream industrial projects and Indonesia’s mineral reserves critical for emerging technologies.
