Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto began his official agenda in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday local time by meeting with the United States Chamber of Commerce (USCC), the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC), and the US-Indonesia Society (USINDO).He was accompanied by several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, along with representatives from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).The meeting, titled “Business Summit in Honor of H. E. Prabowo Subianto, President of the Republic of Indonesia,” was held ahead of the signing ceremony for the Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) with US President Donald Trump. This ceremony is a key agenda item during President Prabowo's visit to Washington, D.C. President Prabowo arrived at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Building at approximately 4:49 p.m. local time. He was accompanied by Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Investment and Downstream Development Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, CIO of Danantara Pandu Sjahrir, Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, and Indonesian Ambassador to the United States Dwisuryo Indroyono Soesilo.Business community attendees included Kadin Chairman Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Pertamina President Director Simon Aloysius Mantiri, PT Freeport Indonesia President Director Tony Wenas, and Freeport-McMoRan Inc. Chairman Richard C. Adkerson. Before the meeting, Anindya Bakrie stated that the gathering would allow business communities from both nations to capitalize on the reciprocal agreement to be signed by President Prabowo and President Trump. “Trade between the two countries is strong, already at US$45 billion. The goal is to create more balanced trade. This will provide many opportunities for Indonesian exporters, especially in the footwear, textile, garment, and electronics sectors, as well as for American entrepreneurs in the cotton, wheat, and soybean sectors,” he stated.Bakrie added that Indonesia is considering prospective investments, which he believes are key to generating jobs and maintaining positive momentum.Furthermore, he noted that the US business representatives who met with Prabowo were all partners of Kadin. “All of them are collaborative partnerships with Kadin. In May 2025, we signed a cooperation document with the US Chamber (USCC) and US-ASEAN, and we also have a long-standing relationship with USINDO,” Bakrie pointed out.President Prabowo and President Trump are scheduled to sign the reciprocal agreement, which includes provisions on tariffs, during their bilateral meeting in Washington, D.C.
