Tanah Datar district, West Sum (ANTARA) – The Indonesian government has set a goal to complete rehabilitation and reconstruction in disaster-hit areas of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra before 2029, officials said Tuesday.Speaking in Tanah Datar district, West Sumatra, Minister of Public Works and Housing Dody Hanggodo said the government, together with relevant ministries and agencies, is preparing a master plan and rapid recovery action to guide budgeting and long-term disaster risk reduction.”We are currently working on the master plan, and hopefully, all rehabilitation and reconstruction can be completed before 2029,” he said, adding that Parliament’s Commission V has urged completion ahead of schedule.Dody explained that reconstruction follows President Prabowo Subianto’s directives, aiming for stronger, safer, and more sustainable communities.He noted that the process is carried out quickly, accurately, and efficiently so that affected regions not only recover but also become more resilient to future disasters.”This development is designed not only to provide safety today but also to secure sustainable livelihoods for future generations,” he added.Zigo Rolanda, Member of Parliament Commission V, emphasized that disaster response in Indonesia must be implemented promptly.He confirmed that President Prabowo is committed to fulfilling mandates under Law No. 24 of 2007 on Disaster Management Accountability.The reconstruction plan includes infrastructure repairs, housing restoration, and community resilience programs, to be carried out from 2026 to 2029, with a focus on long-term disaster mitigation.
