Stranded Pertamina tankers to soon leave Arabian Gulf: Minister

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia informed that negotiations to free two Pertamina cargoes stranded in the Arabian Gulf will be concluded soon.”There are two ships with negotiations currently underway. God willing, it will be completed soon, so pray for us,” he said when met in his office on Tuesday.On March 2, Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) reported that four vessels were located in the Middle East: the Gamsunoro, loading in Khor al Zubair, Iraq; the Pertamina Pride, which has completed loading and is currently anchored in Ras Tanura, Saudi Arabia; the PIS Rinjani, currently anchored in Khor Fakkan, UAE; and the PIS Paragon, currently discharging in Oman.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed it is continuing dialogue with Iranian authorities to ensure the safety of two Pertamina tankers stranded in the Strait of Hormuz amid tensions involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.Then, on March 10, PIS announced that of the four vessels owned by PT Pertamina International Shipping (PIS) operating in the Middle East, two have departed the conflict area: the PIS Rinjani and the PIS Paragon.Two vessels are still operating in the Middle East: the VLCC Pertamina Pride and the Gamsunoro, which are in the Arabian Gulf. These vessels are awaiting safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. Both are reported to be safe.The Gamsunoro serves cargo for third-party customers. Meanwhile, the VLCC Pertamina Pride is on a mission to transport light crude oil supplies to meet domestic energy needs.”In addition to these vessels, the energy supply and distribution chain remains solid, both in international waters and in Indonesian waters, supported by a fleet of at least 345 vessels managed by other Pertamina Group entities,” the Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping, Vega Pita, said.
