Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) Marines and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) conducted a joint Mass Casualty Training (MASCAL) exercise in Hawaii on Sunday (July 26), simulating large-scale disaster responses to enhance tactical readiness and field efficiency.The training took place as part of the multilateral Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC) 2024 exercise, according to an Indonesian Navy press release issued on Tuesday.Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service (Kadispenal) Rear Admiral Tunggul confirmed in Jakarta that the training aimed to enhance the speed, precision, and accuracy of personnel in managing large numbers of casualties.”This exercise also serves as a vital platform for exchanging knowledge, tactical experience, and techniques to manage casualties effectively during both military operations and humanitarian missions,” Tunggul stated.He explained that all training scenarios were designed to reflect real field conditions, ensuring high operational readiness among soldiers.Tunggul added that strict safety protocols were observed throughout the event, allowing the drills to run smoothly and securely.”This series of exercises went smoothly and safely,” he noted, adding that the initiative is expected to strengthen defense ties between Indonesia and the US.Running from June 24 to July 31 in Hawaii, RIMPAC remains the world's premier international maritime defense exercise.It involves 31 countries, approximately 30,000 personnel, 28 warships, five submarines, 30 fighter aircraft, and 20 ground components aimed at improving regional maritime security cooperation.
