Jakarta to divert traffic for Bedug Kolosal on Eid Eve

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Jakarta’s transportation agency will divert traffic on major roads during the “Jakarta Bedug Kolosal” Eid eve celebration on March 20 from 8 p.m. local time, with measures applied situationally, officials said.Deputy Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency Ujang Harmawan said traffic engineering would depend on conditions during the event, which is expected to draw large crowds in central areas.Affected roads include Jalan Jenderal Sudirman from the Karet Pasar Baru Timur III intersection to the Hotel Indonesia roundabout, he said in a statement issued here on Thursday.Closures will also cover Jalan MH Thamrin from the Hotel Indonesia roundabout to the Patung Kuda roundabout, along with Jalan Kupingan BNI 46, Jalan Kota Bumi, Jalan Baturaja, and Jalan Kebon Kacang.Additional affected routes include both sides of Jalan Kebon Sirih and Jalan KH Wahid Hasyim, as well as Jalan Sunda and Jalan Imam Bonjol.For north-to-south traffic from Harmoni to Semanggi, vehicles will be redirected via Jalan Hayam Wuruk, Jalan Ir H Juanda, and connecting roads including Suryapranoto, Balikpapan, and Cideng Timur.Alternative routes also include Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat, with U-turns near the Transportation Ministry building, continuing through Abdul Muis, Fachrudin, and KH Mas Mansyur toward Jalan Jenderal Sudirman.Other options divert traffic via Jalan RM Margono Djojohadikoesoemo and Jalan Galunggung before rejoining Sudirman, or via Juanda and Lapangan Banteng roads toward Rasuna Said.South-to-north traffic from Semanggi to Harmoni will be rerouted through Jalan Jenderal Sudirman, Karet Pasar Baru Timur, RM Margono Djojohadikoesoemo, KH Mas Mansyur, and Gajah Mada.Drivers may also use Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Jalan Prof Dr Satrio, and KH Mas Mansyur as alternative corridors.East-to-west traffic from Gondangdia to Tanah Abang will be diverted via Menteng Raya, Ridwan Rais, Medan Merdeka, Abdul Muis, and Fachrudin toward Mas Mansyur.West-to-east traffic toward Gambir Station will be redirected through Abdul Muis, Majapahit, Juanda, and Lapangan Banteng routes.Alternative routes include Jalan Jati Baru Raya, Cideng Barat, and Suryapranoto before reconnecting to Juanda and surrounding roads.Traffic along Jalan Kebon Sirih and Jalan Wahid Hasyim will remain open but may be diverted during torch parades and decorated vehicle processions.The event will feature a torchlight parade passing the southwest gate of Monas, the Hotel Indonesia roundabout, and Jalan MH Thamrin before returning to the starting point.
