Indonesia’s Prabowo to meet Japanese firms in Tokyo visit

Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to meet prominent business figures and witness the signing of investment agreements involving major Japanese companies during his visit to Tokyo, Japan.”President Prabowo is scheduled to meet prominent businessmen and witness investment agreements from several major Japanese companies in Indonesia,” according to a post on the Cabinet Secretariat's Instagram account on Sunday.The president is also scheduled to meet Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi.Prabowo departed from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta on Sunday, accompanied by Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.His departure was seen off by Deputy House Speaker Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto, and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.The president and his entourage arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on Sunday evening at 7:10 p.m. local time.He was welcomed by Japanese State Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii, Chief of State Protocol Tadayuki Miyashita, Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir, and Indonesian Defense Attaché Commodore Hidayaturrahman.Indonesia and Japan have maintained comprehensive cooperation for 68 years across economic, political, and socio-cultural sectors, with relations showing positive trends in recent years.The visit reflects the long-standing friendship between the two countries based on mutual trust and respect.The visit is expected to open new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation and strengthen bilateral ties.Earlier, State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said President Prabowo would discuss strategic issues underpinning cooperation between the two countries.”These meetings aim to strengthen bilateral ties, with discussions focusing on strategic areas of cooperation with the Japanese government,” Prasetyo said.”These include trade, technology, education, as well as forestry and environmental cooperation,” he added.
