Prabowo affirms government’s presence for fishermen across Indonesia

Jakarta (ANTARA) – President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to giving greater attention to fishermen across Indonesia.During his remarks while inspecting Red and White Fishing Village (Kampung Nelayan Merah Putih / KNMP) in Leato Selatan, Gorontalo City, on Saturday, Prabowo expressed his respect for fishermen who face significant risks at sea every day to support their families and contribute to national food needs.“I understand that fishermen face great risks. The sea is no joke. Weather can change, currents can change. You risk your lives to earn a living for your families, your communities, and your nation. I thank you,” President Prabowo was quoted as saying in a statement that the Presidential Secretariat issued in Jakarta. The President emphasized that his administration is determined to improve the welfare of Indonesian fishermen while giving them the recognition they deserve.According to Prabowo, fishermen have long been among groups that receive insufficient attention.“For that reason, I am determined to improve and respect our fishermen throughout Indonesia. Fishermen are often forgotten,” he said.On the same occasion, President Prabowo also reaffirmed that the government would be more present for grassroots communities, including fishermen and farmers across the country.“The current government will pay attention to all fishermen and all farmers throughout Indonesia,” he added.
