Jakarta (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries continues to expand access for Indonesian fishery products to enter the Chinese market after more than 600 fish processing units (UPIs) received approval from the country.The Head of the ministry's Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency, Ishartini, stated that the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China (GACC) has issued permits for eight additional UPIs on Monday, May 11, bringing the total to 638 units.These eight business entities are PT Duta Mitra Semesta, PT BPH Global Indonesia, CV Daniel Nathania Fishery, PT Bintang Samudera Pratama, PT Ramantha Kawanua Indonesia, PT Marindo Jaya Maros, PT Jaya Mega Samudra, and PT Zhongyi Supply Chain Services.She added that the submission proposal for the eight processing units was approved through the bilateral Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) channel.According to her, Indonesia currently exports 1,080 types of fishery commodities to China. In 2025, export volume to China reached 491,528 tons, valued at US$1.04 billion.The top 10 fishery commodities include frozen squid, Eucheuma cottonii seaweed, Gracilaria seaweed, frozen ribbonfish, Eucheuma cottonii, dried Eucheuma cottonii seaweed, dried Gracilaria seaweed, Eucheuma spinosum, frozen leatherjacket fish, and frozen croaker fish.Ishartini urged all business players and relevant stakeholders who have gained export access to various countries to maintain their commitment and consistency in implementing sanitation and hygiene standards, as well as food safety principles, both within the production chain and around their facilities.”This is to maintain product acceptance and strengthen global trust that will boost competitiveness,” she remarked.Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono earlier emphasized the need to continuously guarantee product quality to further advance Indonesia's fisheries industry and establish it as a dominant player amid the free trade era.
