Jakarta (ANTARA) – Indonesia and Singapore reaffirmed commitments to closer defense cooperation during annual military talks in Singapore, emphasizing stronger interoperability, mutual trust, and regional stability.The 22nd Indonesia-Singapore Armed Forces Annual Staff Meeting was held from June 2 to June 4 and brought together senior military leaders from both countries.The meeting was co-chaired by Indonesian military Chief of General Staff Lt. Gen. Richard T.H. Tampubolon and Singapore Armed Forces Joint Staff Chief Brig. Gen. Chan Ching Hao.The annual meeting serves as the highest-level consultation forum between both militaries to review cooperation and identify new areas for collaboration.Before the main meeting, Tampubolon paid a courtesy visit to Chan to strengthen professional ties and improve mutual understanding.During the talks, both sides reviewed progress in intelligence cooperation, military exercises, education, staff planning, and logistics.Delegations also discussed developments under joint mechanisms covering intelligence, operations, exercises, education, staff planning, and logistics cooperation.The two sides exchanged views on strategic defense issues and discussed preparations for the next annual meeting.Tampubolon said defense relations between the Indonesian and Singaporean militaries had continued developing positively over the years.”Cooperation between TNI and SAF has developed positively and constructively, contributing to mutual trust, interoperability, and regional stability,” he said.Both militaries agreed to expand cooperation based on equality, mutual respect, and shared interests.Indonesia's delegation included representatives from military headquarters, the Army, Navy, Air Force, the defense attache in Singapore, and international cooperation personnel.At the end of the meeting, both delegation leaders signed official minutes formalizing follow-up measures for future cooperation.The signing highlighted both countries' commitment to maintaining a professional, adaptive, and forward-looking defense partnership supporting regional peace and stability.
